Volkswagen Up! Wins Best City Car At Auto Express New Car Awards 2020
At this year’s Auto Express New Car Awards, the latest Volkswagen up! has been named the ‘Best City Car’.
Auto Express’s annual new car awards featured more than 25 automotive categories, honouring an extensive range of vehicles and manufacturers.
With winning the Best City Car award, judges particularly praised the way the up! delivers a ‘good punch’ around town, riding extremely well, dealing with bumps and broken surfaces in cities with ease.
Auto Express also highlighted that the new Volkswagen up! range also offers plenty of choice to drivers, hosting some features that other city cars don’t have. Auto Express were confident in saying there’s something for every budget too.
Sean Carson, Auto Express’s chief reviewer, noted: ‘While it might be eight years old, updates have kept the up! at the forefront of the city car class.
‘VW initially fitted the car with a removable touchscreen, but this was replaced with a cradle for your smartphone, and given the size and capability of modern devices, this brings all of the features you’d expect.
‘Overall, the up! is still a brilliant city car that has been advanced thanks to electrification.’
Due to current circumstances, this year’s awards were held through a special socially distanced ceremony, which was streamed online.
