A Vehicle Tour of the Mercedes-Benz EQC

The Mercedes-Benz EQC is a powerful and dynamic mid-size SUV that offers a refined electric driving experience. It was the German manufacturer’s first mainstream EV and has been based on a modified platform that was originally used for the popular GLC model.

So, what can you expect from the EQC? Watch our full vehicle tour below or read on to find out more.

Exterior

The Mercedes-Benz EQC has sleek SUV styling. It’s elegant despite its large frame.

From the front, the sweeping black panel radiator grille stands bold and flows into two multi-beam LED headlights. A characteristic EQ lighting band spans the width of the car – you can expect to see this on all Mercedes-Benz EQ models. Plus, the front camera and parking sensors are also tucked away at the front of the vehicle.

Mercedes EQC Front

Moving around the side of the car, you can’t miss the large alloy wheels that set a commanding presence. Our model had aerodynamically designed 20-inch multi-spoke alloys.

At the back, you’ll find the rear EQ light bar, as well as chrome detailing which adds to the vehicle’s sense of style.

You can access the boot via a button in the front of the vehicle, a button on the car keys or by pressing the Mercedes badge on the boot itself. With the back seats in position, the EQC offers 500 litres of storage space, which extends to just under 1,500 litres with the rear seats folded down. This should easily allow for the accommodation of daily items, suitcases or a couple of sets of golf clubs.

Interior

The interior of the Mercedes EQC is welcoming, with plenty of room for five occupants. Plush materials have been used throughout and the seats offer lumbar support for optimal comfort.

In the rear, passengers will feel well accommodated with leg and head space in abundance, an armrest with storage and cupholders, air vents and a reading light.

In the front, the dual-screen MBUX infotainment system can take care of a whole load of vehicle functions including navigation, radio, media and comfort as well as display various vehicle statistics. It’s incredibly responsive and also great to look at thanks to super-sharp graphics.

You’ll also benefit from a handy personal assistant. Simply say ‘Hey Mercedes’ to activate the intelligent voice command feature and control elements such as sat nav and the internal climate at ease.

The multi-functional steering wheel allows you to control a range of settings, without taking your attention away from the road ahead. The left hand side controls take care of the media display and telephone calls, whereas the right hand side allows you to change the digital driver’s display.

Around 100 components inside the EQC come from renewable materials such as hemp, natural rubber and paper – adding to the model’s sustainability credentials.

Range, Efficiency and Charging

The vehicle is powered by an 85kWh lithium-ion battery pack that sits beneath the cabin floor, and two electric motors that deliver 408bhp. The EQC has a range of up to 255 miles, however, this will vary slightly depending on factors such as driving style, vehicle speed, environmental conditions, and the use of systems such as air conditioning or heated seats.

The EQC performs well for efficiency – you can expect to achieve an average of around 2.8 miles per kWh in normal conditions.

Charging the EQC is simple – whether you’re at home using a wallbox or out and about using one of the many thousands of public charge points across the UK. A rapid 110kWh charger will boost the battery from 10-80% in just 40 minutes.

Performance and Drive

You’ll benefit from a raised driving position in the EQC, giving you a great view of things ahead. It feels smooth to drive with light steering, meaning you can really enjoy your time on the road.

To help you get the most out of the vehicle, Mercedes has developed a number of intelligent driving modes. These are Comfort, Sport, Eco and Max Range.

Comfort mode strikes a balance between comfort, performance and efficiency. Sport mode maximises performance, delivering a really responsive drive. Eco mode enhances the range of your vehicle by guiding you to drive in the most energy efficient way. Max Range mode will give you the maximum possible range by limiting performance and energy use.

A number of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) make for a safer and more convenient driving experience. The innovative features can do everything for you, such as accelerate, brake, steer and keep you in your lane! All trim levels come with a reversing camera and front and rear parking sensors as standard.

The Mercedes EQC is exceptionally quiet – insulated acoustic glass blocks out almost all wind and tyre noise from outside, creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere that certainly adds to the sense of luxury.

The Mercedes-Benz EQC is a powerful, upmarket, electric SUV that provides a dynamic driving experience.
