Volkswagen unveils sporty Golf R-Line trim

Customers can now place their orders for the new sporty Golf R-Line, ahead of first deliveries in March.

The R-Line sits above the GT model and features Discover Navigation, sports suspension and PreCrash preventive occupant protection as standard.

The Volkswagen Golf R-Line also benefits from a range of new styling features including a rear spoiler, side skirts, radiator grille, bespoke air intakes,R-Line front bumpers and fog lights, R-Line rear bumper and diffuser, and 17-inch Singapore alloy wheels.

Inside, the sporty theme continues, with stainless steel pedals and front door sills, black lead grey inlays and door trims, Sports Race design front seats with R-Line logo, black roof lining, a leather gear knob and gear lever gaiter and an R-Line leather multifunction sports steering wheel.

The R-Line comes with a choice of two engines. The petrol option is a 1.4-litre TSI engine with Active Cylinder Technology, which can deactivate two of the four cylinders for enhanced economy of up to 60.1mpg combined. Mated to a six-speed manual gearbox or an optional seven-speed DSG, the Golf R-Line will reach 62mph in just 8.2 seconds and has a top speed of 134mph.

The diesel alternative Volkswagen's 2.0-litre, 149bhp TDI, which can achieve up to 68.9mpg on the combined cycle and emit 106 to 119g/kg of CO2 emissions. A six-speed manual gearbox comes as standard, with a six-speed DSG also available.
