Volkswagen reveals Scirocco special editions

Volkswagen has launched two special 'Black Edition' variants of the Scirocco for the GT and R-Line models.

The new models boast black alloy wheels, a black contrast roof, door mirrors and rear spoiler, and 90 per cent tinted rear windows. This ensures that the special editions look quietly aggressive, and accentuate the Scirocco's low-slung stance.

The GT Black Edition sees the addition of 18-inch Black Lisbon alloys, while the R-Line Black Edition sits on 19-inch Black Lugano alloys.

Under the bonnet, customers can choose from two petrol engines a 1.4-litre with 125bhp or a 2.0-litre with 180bhp. Diesel engines are also available, with a 2.0-litre that can be specified in either 150bhp or 184bhp guises. The 1.4-litre TSI comes equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox, whereas the other power-plants can be mated to either the manual or a six-speed DSG gearbox.

Standard equipment across the Scirocco range includes the Composition Media system, Bluetooth telephone and audio connection, DAB digital radio receiver, air conditioning, automatic headlights and wipers, sports seats and a CD player.

The Scirocco Black Editions are priced from £23,135 (RRP OTR), for the GT 1.4-litre. This is a £550 premium over the standard model, representing great value.
