Volkswagen Polo set for new features

The next incarnation of the Volkswagen Polo is set for a number of changes, the manufacturer has now revealed.

In addition to new efficient engines across the range, the car will also come with a whole host of new technologies for the benefit of both driver and passengers.

According to Volkswagen, anyone who has already experienced driving its Golf model will be familiar with some of the advanced features that will be included in the new Polo, as the company continues to ensure safety, practicality, comfort and efficiency are all improved in new models.

For a start, all new Polos will come with an automatic post-collision braking system, with the brakes applied immediately after a collision to reduce the chances of a second crash.

Furthermore, owners of the latest model can choose to have a driver alert system added, as well as front assist with city emergency braking and automatic cruise control.

Sport selection suspension is also a potential extra, with the technology switching between two settings automatically, depending on the terrain.

Control is also improved thanks to a new electro-mechanical steering system. This helps to increase both efficiency and handling.

Passengers will benefit from the installation of Volkswagen's modular entertainment system, with the touchscreen technology able to control music, satellite navigation and other settings.

New EU6-compliant engines will be found under the bonnet, with some of the range offering up to 21 per cent greater efficiency that the previous model. The petrol-powered BlueMotion TSi will deliver 68.9mpg and release CO2 emissions of just 95g per km.

For those who enjoy a diesel car over the petrol alternative, the Polo will be made available with a 1.4-litre TDi engine, with 70PS and 90PS variants.

The outside is a different beast too, with new precise lines, a redesigned front grille and chrome flourishes around the front fog lights. The rear of the car also plays host to a new bumper, while five alloy wheel designs can be chosen.
