Volkswagen Amarok bulks up for the Canyon

A new limited edition version of the Volkswagen Amarok has been announced, with the model set to be an even more muscular version of the popular pick-up.

The Amarok Canyon is now the top of the range model, boasting a new design and a range of equipment, as well as improved performance.

It is based on the Trendline trim design and comes with satellite navigation, Bluetooth, unique styling bars, 19" Cantera alloy wheels and heated leather seats. Furthermore, the pick-up has front and rear parking sensors, privacy glass and a protective coating for the load area.

The changes continue on the inside, thanks to Nappa and Vienna leather upholstery, a leather covered steering wheel and gear knob, and sporty orange stitching.

Under the bonnet is a 2.0-litre BiTDI 180 PS engine, offering up to 420 Nm of torque and a maximum towing capacity of up to 3,200 kg.

This can be twinned to either a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic alternative.

It has a top speed of 111 mph in the manual version and can hit 62 mph from standing in 11 seconds flat.
